I think the drum track needs to be just as simplified as Erlands own percussion is while beating on the back of his guitar.

The Drum rolls should be simple rolls. These drum fills sound like rock and roll drum fills and this song isnt rock n roll.....

I know there is going to be 2 strongly divided camps on this (whether Erland likes it or not...he's still around, isn't he??:D ), but this song COULD be made into a rock and roll song, imo. Listen to some old Jethro Tull, and maybe apply it to this stuff, as an example. I'm not saying it SHOULD change into a harder sound, but I think it can work...Infact, I think you could take just about ANY style, and slap it behind his stuff, and if done GOOD, will fit and work. The styles can contrast, but still work with each other. The idea is keeping quality behind it...genre, not so important.......maybe, me thinks:rolleyes:

Of course, the other camp will completely disagree. I see no fence sitters on this issue...eh?

on a side note, I've been goofing around with this stuff too, and the hard part for me is deciding whether you add a calliope (sp?) behind it, accordian...or dang it, a Jethro Tull band....or strings...or a fiddle, Vince Gill guitar sound/playing..... Everything seems to wanna work... Probably a side effect of a good song, in the first place.

...and of course (to be a fence sitter:eek: ), whacking on the back of the gitter works too!

Go rock and Roll

I thought this thread is going to go under. But here it is up agaung.

mixmkr,
I like rock and roll idea I just realy hear some lightly distorted rithm guitar with the tasty licks here and there. I wish there was room for a lead.

The more I listen to the molet symbal the more I hate it, but I think if it was mixed properly with reverb and all it's kind of ok to put the breaks on for the ending. Same for the rain stick (that's what the sound is at the end) Actualy it was somewhat inspired by the words and ment to add to melodrmatic theme of the song.

But it's all just loops anyway and great fun to mess around with.

The band would be great for Erlands stuff but he needs a good one right of the back IMHO. The material is just too good for garage band to mess with (lol :D).

If anybody wants a wav of just drums to mess with, it's at
WARNING IT"S HUGE 37 Mg!!!

And you are right about the timing things (not that you need my approval :) ) I leave those for real drumers to deal with :)

I'm in "make good music" camp. :D Man, I wish I could make to the fest.

If somebody comes up with some arrangement of these tunes post it. You won't be able to do it after Erland goes "pro".

cheers

I liked the songwriting...The vox's were just a little too upfront...thats all...
