Can someone tell me the difference between the 2 Behringer mixers MX802A and the UB1202?

I was looking to get the MX802A. While searching 8thstreet.com for it, they didn't have it, but they DO have the UB1202. I have read a couple posts suggesting that the mic pres on the UB series are upgraded from the MX. Does anybody know if one mixer has an advantage over the other?

Thanks,

There is a definite tradeoff between the two:

UB1202 has better preamps
MX802A has lesser preamps, but has two aux sends instead of one. This gives you more routing flexibility, which is always a good thing . trust me.

Without knowing your needs, I can't really make a recommendation. I currently use the MX602A and it has done me well for the last year as I have spent most time learning all my software, but I have hit the wall on what that mixer can do by a long shot and have spent the last two weeks doing mixer research because I need something better.

If you are just beginning, I would recommend the 802A just for the routing flexibility. Because for the first while, YOU are the weakest link in your audio chain, not your gear. When you have hit the limits of the mixer, then you can upgrade, and you will always have a use for a little mixer like this one.

If you are looking at these babies new, I would suggest looking instead at the UB 1204 Pro series used (try Ebay...), or the UB1632 Pro. OR, try to track down a used Mackie 1202 VLZ Pro....
