I came across a used, but like new Yamaha AW2400 yesterday and took the plunge.
The last month or so I was debating if I should go one of these routes:
-A&H GS3000 + Alesis HD24
-Yamaha 01X+I88x + PC (or Laptop)
-Yamaha AW2400
The first option is definitely the most 'pro', but also not very mobile and expensive.
The 2nd option was relatively expensive and I would need a dedicated PC or laptop.
The AW2400 seemed for me the best of both worlds;
it's fairly mobile (as I want to do location-recordings in my band's rehearsal space) and has the I/O capabilities that I missed in my Korg D16 (only 1 aux, no inserts, only 2x XLR and no phantom power).
The few things that I will miss on my D16 (it's up for sale now), is the touchscreen, the pan-pot per channel and the intuitive ease of use.
Any more AW-users that had to ask themselves the same questions (whether to go PC/DAW, analog desk+multitracker, etc.) ?
