Delta 1010lt troubles

Ouch. Yeah I'd rather avoid those kind of calls. I only used a soldering iron once -- to attach 3 wires to new faders I got for my board. I did a handful, not too shabby for my first time. Maybe I should look into making my own, 'cause the connection I have now is like huge.

take some old piece of junk electronics and practice soldering. it really helps to have a little experience with a soldering iron.

I'm a bit confused with what you're saying but I'll warn you right now, the Delta 1010LT does NOT have phantom power, so do NOT try to plug condensers into it. It will not work, and I've heard you could damage the mics that way.
No you can't. You can damage some older mics by putting phantom power into them though.

My mixer inserts are 1/4" unbalanced. I want to send the unbalanced signal from my mixer inserts to inputs 1 and 2 of the 1010LT card. I have the jumpers on the 1010LT set for line level. Will the pad jumper need to be set to bring down the line level?
Ehm, here is an idea: Try! :)

I don't remember 100% which setting I have on mine, but I don't have different levels on channel 1+2 compared to the others. I'm pretty sure I set them in the "standard" line mode setting. In fact, the manual states that you should only use the alternate settting if the input level is too hot, even when you have set +4dBU as input level in the control panel.

don't balanced and unbalanced inputs have different amounts of gain? how can the 1/2 inputs be the same as the 3-8 inputs if 1/2 are balanced and 3-8 are unbalanced?

is there any problem with connecting an unbalanced output to a balanced input?

Nope. It's common that balanced is +4 and unbalanced -10, but that's just that. Common. There is nothing saying that balanced must be +4.

No, you just need the right cable. I buy mine, so I don't have to bother with making them. :)

So your saying that the unbalanced inputs 3-8 are +4?

As far as the cable, is it ok to connect a unbalanced 1/4" ts plug to a balanced 1/4" trs jack?

Yup.

I don't know, actually.

Just wanted to add.........M-Audio never replied to my email. How's that for customer support?

Try these guys.

When I had a question before even buying a card one of the principals of the company called me back the same day.

These guys are engineers and design everything they offer themselves.

www.lynxstudio.com

M-Audio sucks donkey dicks, no doubt about it.

If the Lynx is too much $$$ check out Echo Layla3G. Balanced I/O and rock-solid drivers and support.
