I have just purchased a Dean XVO at my local store. I read where Zelinsky is back to bring the company back.

But I have never considered a Dean before. I was actually looking at an Epiphone Les Paul.

All things considerd would you say the Dean is equal too or better than the Epi?

They are built very similar and sound close too.

Is the Dean well made? It does use Grovers but not too sure about its other parts.

Thanks for info.

yes.....

Deans are an awesome guitar especially considering the money spent as compared to other manufacturers...... in my opinion better than epi's......

if it has grovers then the keys are better than epi's. I have yet to see a late model epi that will stay in tune for very long.

If Dean Zelinsky has returned, that's a good thing......I remember when the originals came out in the '70s, and they were awesome....but I haven't messed with the later ones......they looked good, though....

Like all guitars to a certain extent, Epiphones can be pretty hit or miss....I've heard of more misses than hits, however.......the older ones are the exceptions, they're much better......

The LP Custom Epiphones seem to be pretty well liked by their owners.....likewise the Dots......I found them pretty underwhelming, though.........gibs

You don't find many set neck guitars with Grovers that look and play as good as the Deans in that price range.

I have an Epi LP standard, and I love it. It is a limited edition (has a graphic on the back of the headstock) though, with a strange navy sparkle finish, so maybe it was created specially. I ran the serial number through Gibson, and they told me that they couldn't find it anywhere. They said it was probally a one-of-a-kind or a giveaway model. Anyways, it plays and sounds great imho.
