Hmm, for some reason I gotta seriously doubt this one. You'd be better off learning your monitors and how they translate into the real world than playing with one of these.

Then again I haven't heard it, but don't see the value in it myself at this point.

There is much value. If you have a studio setup with multiple monitor pairs (as I do) it is invaluable. I have three different programs set up.

1. Event 20/20 BAS'
2. JBL LSR28p
3. JBL Consumer

Each program is pinked, speaker corrected and adjusted for my room. To select a different speaker pair all I do is select one of the three programs. The speaker emulations are kind of gimmicky but the speaker management is worth the price of entry alone. Let alone all the other stuff like speaker protection. Digital management of studio monitors is the future, I'd try it before I knocked it.

Drummer,

There's no need for multiple sets of monitors, room EQ, speaker emulators, or any other such "correction" devices. What you really need is one pair of truly accurate monitors, and enough acoustic treatment and bass traps to make your room accurate too. Without proper acoustic treatment, owning the most expensive speakers in the world is futile.

Totally agreed.

I own a DBX Quantum and the Type IV conversion sounds quite good to me. However, the last thing I want to do is put another AD/DA conversion between my DAW and my speakers, no matter how nice it is. This Driverack Studio unit needs digital inputs. That would greatly enhance it's appeal and usefulness for anyone using a DAW or other digital recorder.

I have the Driverack studio. I also have a room that is small, but fairly well tuned. I used the Driverack for about a month, but recently took it out of my monitoring chain. To my tin ears, the emulations weren't anything special that I can't do with a graphic equalizer. Because my room is OK, the unit didn't change the sound that much, but it seemed to increase the noise level slightly, or add a "veil" over the music that isn't there without it. (Its HARD to describe sound in words!)

I'm seriously thinking of selling it. I'm probably going to be moving to a different room soon, so I'll probably give it one last try in that room.
