12 string
I bought it and I'm very happy with it.Great sound, plays easy and it has an L.R.Baggs preamp that is easily the best I've ever had in an acoustic instrument. The downside is that it's beat up and plain as a brown paper bag.I put a mic to it last night and I was very pleased right off the bat,I'm still not sure how to mic my six string.

Well, maybe you should consider that the sheet music stands can double as beer trays.
Cool guys like me have drink holders on our mic stands and don't need no steenkin' sheet music.

I have a seven day weekend, whoo hoo!
I have a 365 day weekend coming up.
I have a two day weekend coming up,but that's because my company needs me.:p

Actually, ours isn't for sheet music either. Our lead singer uses it to hold the words for our songs... despite the fact that we have been singing and playing the same songs now for about 100 years.

Work
Speaking of which... I got a proposal to go back to work for my last employer (in a different dept. of course). I'm still tossing it around, and still need some answers to a few questions I have.

Given the state of the stock market these days, it would probably not be a bad idea (at least financially) to be getting a steady paycheck for awhile.

I'm supposed to have more discussion on this with them tomorrow, - so stay tuned.

The main negative is that I'm not fully sure my mind and body can still handle 40 hours a week. :o :o :o

Wow, I always thought that in spite of the wicked witch who you once worked for, there may be others that you worked with who could see the value of someone with your experience.

Outplacement counsellors will always tell you that word of mouth is the best way of getting a job by a long chalk.;)

In all the years I have been applying for jobs in the national newspapers and internet sites (probably 50 or so in the course of the past 20 years) I didn't even make an interview.:(:o

Amazingly, all my jobs have come from peeps who knew me or I was headhunted.:)

Go for it man - think of the fun you could have - you don't have to be so deferential now :D

Actually I've been some consulting work on-and-off for this dept. ever since I left the company. I guess that helped them keep me in mind when this opportunity opened up.

For what it's worth, I got my original position with this company through a newspaper ad. At the time I had been out of work for nearly three months, and that was the first and only interview I got called for.

Anyway, I had another conversation with them today. I told them I was interested in some further discussion, so we're going to set up a meeting.

Imagine that. If I really do go back to work I might have a lot more time to do some posting here. :D :D :D

It's always something
My main TV blew the other day.It was a cheapie 36" CRT,that we bought as a stop gap a few years back.I figured I jinxed myself by spending $400 on Sunday that a new expense would come up.
This time around I may spend a few more bucks and get something decent, probably a 42".I may get talked into a surround system too, depending on sticker shock.

Effing electronics, almost as bad as cars.

You probably have more internet time now,it's just that you can't surf porn at work.:D

They knew you AND they hired you?

I got a 42" hi-def a few years back. Trust me, it is the ONLY way to watch football, my man. :D :D :D Go for it! Isn't that what you're working all those weekends for anyway? I certainly hope it's not for the kids.

I didn't go for the surround system with mine - since I'm not really that big on movies. But I did connect mine up to my stereo system. It's not quite the "movie theater" experience, but it sounds pretty damn good when I watch a concert DVD.

Yes!! :D:D:D

Thats why I said "amazingly". ;) :)

TV's I went for a 36" Sony Bravia and updated my satellite to HD (I can't get cable where I live :(). Absolutely fantastic. Like Mike, I also hooked up sound to my stereo but will upgrade to full SS later on.

It's Friday!!!! Major leaf clearing operation today :( So I can put my feet up tomorrow :)

TV
Went looking and checked out the ads,it's looking like it's going to be in the $900-$1300 range and I might go as big as 46",but a 40" is not out of the question. We're holding out for a better deal for now as the offers change weekly and we still have four TVs.My boy was very dissapointed,he wanted to watch the Packers and Iron Man on a big screen TV.

Today
Rake leaves, visit my dad that's about it.

Packers-Titans
I have no idea how this game will go,no outcome would surprise me.I think the Titans are the shakiest 7-0 I've ever seen and the Packers are a work in progress.

Work
I'll be working for the company the next few weekends, plus overtime during the week so I won't be having much of a life. That's okay because daddy has to pay for his new toys.

LATER!!!

The 36" we bought is just a tad too small for our living room so we are going to buy a 42" and swap the CRT TV in our bedroom for the 36" from the lounge.

Raking leaves is about the only chore for the day but its a cold and miserable day here and I'm not looking forward to going outside:(.

Highlight of the day will be me cooking dinner - Moroccan lamb shanks with cous-cous

Have fun!:)

It's Friday!!!!

And my birthday I might add (not that anyone remembered). :( :( :(

My children (and grandchild) are taking me out for dinner tonight (Saturday). Somehow I expect I will end up paying, though. However, it's no problem these days, since my "portfolio" actually went up in value this week. :D

If that can repeat for another couple hundred weeks, I might actually get back to even.

Wow, so you missed being born on Halloween only be a few hours :p
You ain't got 666 tattood on your head have you?:D Of course not, we would have all seen it:p:)

Anyway, happy birthday, enjoy this evening whoever pays.

I'm visiting my niece tomorrow who has just given birth again. :) I have told both my daughters that I don't want to be a Grandad till I'm 70 and not before :)

Only three days before voting and the eyes of the world are on all you Yankees. Vote now for Mrs Palin for pole dancing queen:D

No I didn't. My birthday was yesterday (Friday). We just happen to be celebrating it today (Saturday). I know this is confusing, but try and keep up. :)

So what's the take on this election across the pond?? You guys pulling for Obama or McCain?

I have been able to vote now for 40 years - which I guess means 10 elections. In each one it seems I have always voted against someone, rather than for someone.

I voted for Nixon in '68 because I was voting against the democrats and the Viet Nam war.

I voted for Carter in '76, because he seemed open and honest, while Nixon turned out to be a crook.

I voted for Reagan in '80, because Carter - despite being honest - was pretty much incompetent.

I voted for Dukakis in '88 because Reagan's trickle-down economics weren't trickling down.

and so on........

Computers

I installed a new wireless router today. What a nightmare. This was a job that should have taken 15 minutes. I spent an hour on it last night, and about 3-4 hours on it this morning.

I finally got it working, but I have no clue why I was having problems to begin with, or what I did to fix them. I pretty much just kept doing the same thing over and over, and eventually it worked (like it should have to start with).

Einstein said insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results. Obviously he never had to deal with personal computers.

Giants - Cowboys tomorrow.

I made a bet with my son-in-law giving him 7 points. The line is 9-1/2, and Dallas has half their starters on IR. So why am I nervous?? :( :( :o :o

With your voting record you might wanna sit this one out...

Happy birthday!
A couple days late.If I lived closer I would've let you take me out to dinner also.

The election
I can't wait till it's over.I've had people knocking at my door constantly and my mailbox has become a trash can.Every four years people predict the end of the world if their guy doesn't get elected and somehow we all seem to be here four years later.
I really wish there was a third party that wasn't for nutjobs.

Wireless router
Isn't that just USB and a generic driver?
Is this your birthday present?
