Really cool - but too expensive for what they are and where they are from, nostalgia aside... Like with most of these things they're probably a better deal 'slightly used' IMO
I've had mine for about ten years now and it still plays well with a tone that is Dano and only Dano. I always enjoy playing it! It goes to show you that tone wood isn't everything! Whoda thought.
I want one badly... I was touring with a band in the UK a couple of years ago and they were going for really low prices so I seriously considered getting one but I had already gotten a new Les Paul and I had to get my other guitar back home, so I didn't have enough luggage-weight left to get the Dano.
There was a slightly damaged one on Ebay downunder I was watching - started at about AUS$50 so I kept an eye on it as I've almost always wanted one - must be my single coil fetish - in the last couple of hours it went for over 400. Thats with the top layer of masonite lifting and no case.
I demured when it passed 200.
I live in Neptune now, but back in the day I was down this way and found one one a music shop wall for $50...one of the old ones with the pseudo-Fenderish Coral headstocks.
It sounded great, and I hate to say that it eventually got thrown in the trash. Wish I still had it.
Around here, the open jam used to include a bunch of old guys playin Danos and Kramers that left the factory one piece at a time.
