Damn pinch roller!!

Hey, another newbie here so hopefully won't be making a fool of myself!

My problem is that I can't get my old pinch roller off of my Otari mx5050 mk111. Taken the cap off as instructed in the manual but won't just come off as it does in the manual picture.

Am I missing something really simple here? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Usually, it's just you turn the hub thing off and then it slides right off. Hmmm,, maybe it's just stuck from sitting there a long time?

having no clue, I think Steve may be right.
Found on page 11 of this doc (not exactly your machine)... I guess, it should be the same/similar construction.

yeah thats what I thought, just plain old stuck! no amount of muscle power seems to be budging it and am quite scared of getting carried away and breaking something.
