I got the Phonic Firelfly 808 Universal and I am very happy with it. I wanted to expand it by adding the Behringer ADA8000, but I cannot get it here on Sumatra right now, though another Phonic would be available.

The ADA8000 would have been connected via ADAT, I understand. How would I connect 2 Firewire Interfaces, which actually have 2 Fierwire connectors each? Just make a connection between the two?

Is any special driver support required for this kind of connection or would it be easier or safer or better to connect the second unit via ADAT?

If I connect via Firewire, I assume there would be an additional MIDI in/out available, which I think is not the case with ADAT connection! Am I right.

I would appreciate any reply that contributes to clarification, as I do ot know, how long the second Phonic would be available!

Thanks in advance for any contribution!

You have to contact the company (or look on their website) and find out if their interfaces are 'stackable' or daisy-chain-able. You might also try downloading the manual from their website; it may be discussed in there.

The drivers have to be written to allow it and if they did not write them to be daisy-chained you can't do it.

I bought my Motu828mkII because Motu states that they write their drivers to allow 3 units to be chained together for over 60 simultaneous i/o's.

I think the Phonic can work in standalone mode as an ADAT interface. Would it then be possible to use its 8 inputs via ADAT connected to the first Firefly?

That would be covered in the manual too.

Why don't you download it and READ it???

I OWN an 808 with manual and it does NOT exactly answer my questions at all. Daisychaining two units is not even mentioned, as well as connecting a second unit via ADAT. Their support has been extremely unsopportive and not replied to my questions at all, though they say they'll reply within 2 days. But One dealer in Germany, who mentioned cascading two units on his web page, replied to my email immediately and clarified, that the 808 Universal can be cascaded via firewire. Second unit is on order now. But anyhow, thanks for any input given, might come up with more specified problems later, should they occur!
