I dont know maybe I suck but I find SM 57 very unrealistic sounding compering to the D440 on snare.
Even using 2 D409 makes me more happy.
ANy inputs

How many different snares do you base that on? In my experience they vary WIDELY in sound. Some times a 57 sucks and some times it's perfect. It depends on the snare, who's hitting it, style of music, etc.

I have no Idea what kind
But the music I record is latin jazz east earopean gipsy and stuff like that. Nothing loud and/or distorsion.

That being the case, a 57 would be the last mic I'd reach for. I'd be looking for a condensor.

true-eurt... the guy is annoying, but come on, do you need to put him down in EVERY SINGLE thread he posts in. take it down a few notches, no one likes the person who goes overboard when a new kid is at school, picking on him to avoid being picked on himself. this has become out of control, so many posts because of one person. i'd much rather see some posts on someone actually involved in the recording process, instead of flaming a guy who's ignorance is better left ignored.
