Is D to A- ing a word?

What is the type extensions most commonly used for PC upload/download. I get some wierd ones when I try to upload.

Is there anything to be concerned of, when taking your CD/Tune upload to PC as .wav? (or one of the other 10 gzillion ext.)

I know from hearing my own, that my Duplicate of the duplicate gets "tinny..trebly" due to my sht D/A's. Fiber Optic helped that somewhat. (Yammie MD8 to a Pioneer (old) CD-R standalone..old technology).

The PC up/down loading is what I'm really asking about?
Any recommendo's???? I really don't need D/A helping to make my mixes sound worse than they do.

I'm not real clear on your question, but if you are loading songs from a digital source, like a cd, there is no d/a(digital to analog) or a/d(analog to digital) conversion, so there won't be any degradation from converters.

Yep, and .wav is the most common extension for that (although some programs are mp3 by default, but that can be changed). You should only be concerned with a/d or d/a if you are trying to record your old cassettes or vinyl albums to cd.
If you copy from cd, save it as a wave file, as you will get less quality deterioration when you burn it back to CD, IMO...

try to clarify,
My MiniDisc8tracks go thru rca jacks to a Pioneer home CD-R (blue back 80min).

The finalized Pioneer CD-R was placed into my pc CD-ROM.

been trying to see what a pc-freeware can do to "shine" up a track.
so i tried goldwave normalize/compress whatever etc.

so at the pc..
the Pioneer CD-R's extension was called/recognized
as a .cdf or some sht by my pc.

then Goldwave wanted .wav and many other
problems incurred.

fix was forcing to download/copy from the Pioneer CD-R to my pcFolder
then to Goldwave back to my pcFolder then
finally I could burn a CD-R a new GoldwaveFreeware version of the song.
It came out as a .wav (i think)

so i'm concerned all this extension changing
would degrade the sound due to sampling of the samples....
changing extensions types.

The extention changing is not the problem. .CDF is the same as a .wav file, it is just a different format. The real problem is the mini disc player. Mini disc records things in a data compressed (not to be confused with audio compression) format, kind of like an mp3. You seem to be starting out with a less than stellar recording, running it through a conversion process, then doing a digital transfer of that.
Is there a reason that you can't plug the mini disc player into the soundcard of the PC and skip about half the steps you are taking?
You really should be OK with what you are doing now, as long as you don't go back and forth with the mini disc.

the Yammie MD8 doesn't have fiber outs/digital outs. one shortcoming.

my understanding is everytime the player uses the RCA's it sends it thru the D/A.
then that goes to the A/D into my "old" standalone CD-R.
then the outs of the CD-R go thru yet another D/A.....

isn't this sample of the sample of the sample.

i should probably unplug my MD8 and take it to the pc soundcard....as you said.

You should plug the mini disc right into the sound card. The converters in the soundcard are most likely better than your old CD-R and you won't go through as many conversions.

And upgrade to CD/RW drive in your computer. they can be had cheap these days, and will eliminate another conversion step when you want to burn a finished copy. Or do already have an on-board burner?

yeah, I have a CD-RW on the pc. 500MHZ/20gig(non-7200)/128ram.
stock/crap soundcard.

i was at Frys and had a new pc in the cart for $436...120gigHD/2.8gighz/512ramDDR/ CDRW.....then a soundcard $99 24bit...
and multi-track software...$50 zillion tracks with effects...
and I was going to grab those $275 amped Wharefdales....
fiber optic to the MasterLink...

but then I woke up...

growing up I never knew it was so important the trash has to be taken out immediately...damn it...don't just sit there. IT NEEDS TO GO OUT NOW!!!

I'm kinda thinking I might like to buy myself a behringer ECM8000..

I created a mod that makes them sound AWESOME.

What I'm gonna do is take an engraving tool, cross out the word "Behringer" and write "Earthworks".

That should just about do it, dont you guys think?

Don't worry, it's going to be an "Earthworks".

I placed an order for one and a pack of d'addario flatwound bass strings last night...

My bass currently has three strings, one of which is COMPLETELY dead sounding.

I use the A string primarlily, and sometimes the G string (on the bass, not the underwear) and just flat out avoid the e string if at all possible, rather than replacing it.

But now I'll get me some new ones and make sweet bass tracks.

Well, as sweet as they get with a squier =D
