cymbals

The ZXT's are useable...........The ZBT's just plane suck.

I have a set of ZBT and Sabian H-Hats (have not either set in 2 years)

The B8's are a lot better than the ZBt's
 
If I was you I would save a little bit and get a decent set of hats and a decent crash.
I almost bought B8's but I held out for awhile and ended up getting some better cymbals used. I got a pair of Avedis Zildjian 14" New Beat hi hats and a 16" thin crash for $150. I got another 16" thin crash that my drummer gave me because it was cracked. It's the same cymbal but the cracked one has a more mellow sound. I also bought a Sabian XS20 20" ride. Not the best cymbals but a step up from the cheapies.
The problem with cheap cymbals is that they will always sound like crap. You can't EQ the crap out of a cymbal. Cheap drums can get new heads and tunning but crap cymbals are what they are. They can't be fixed in the mix.
 
I wouldn't consider moving from ZBTs to B8s an upgrade. Just save up and buy some really good cymbals, one at a time. Start with your least favorite of the ZBTs (prolly the hats).

I must admit, I kind of dig the ZBT ride for some things. It's bright and cutting, but has a pretty decent tone and the bell doesn't suck.
 
the reason why i got the zbt is because the drumset is just a studio set and if drummers wanted to they could bring their own.....but i have found myself using the drumset myself for things that i write and i now realize how much they suck.

coulda told ya that.

B8's are the best of the cheap shit cymbals IMO.

dont 'upgrade' to them- just hold out and buy new good ones.

buy used! craigstlist and the bay saved me a lot. i have all paiste signatures. i got my hats used, but like flawless off of ebay for $200. they are $330 new.
 
scorpio01169: I have an extra B8 16in Thin Crash cymbol thit is in Good Shape, I might be willing to Trade you it for one of your ZBT"s ??

I was stupid and Bought 2 of the exact same Cymbols (B8 16in Crash) so I have an extra one that I can"t really use (well I could but it sounds the same as the other B8).....

If you are interested let me know....

yeah i scored my hi-hats from eBay for $125! perfect condition, A Custom Mastersound bottom with A Mastersound top.
