There's one word that won't go down well on these forums.
I'm not quoting you so you can edit it out. ;)

I don't have direct cubase experience, but I know that with other manufacturers you'd be stuffed.
There's no way to prove you don't have it, and so they won't replace it.

If you had a broken auth key that might be a different story.

It's not the point, but try reaper if you're stuck.
It's free for 100% full evaluation, and very cheap if you choose to buy it.

Reaper is another software package like protools, logic, cubase.
It's just a hell of a lot cheaper.

just seen one on ebay...but they are wanting over 90 pounds for it...nitemare!

ok..managed to pick up a Cubase SE 3 from ebay....this sucks haha..ned to start somewhere...
.thanks again..

Here is the way all of this works: The software is free, the authorizations are the thing you get charged for. If you losses the authorizations, its the same as losing your ipad. It's just gone.

There is nothing wrong with cubase 3, but I'll bet reaper is much more advanced at this point...and only $50 when you decide to pay for it. Google it.

Why would you shop for software on ebay of all places?

coz im new to al this and dont know anywhere else to shop...can you help please

Well you've bought cubase again, so go ahead and see how you get on.

If it doesn't work out well, the general advice is to start out with Reaper. Hard not to win......

haha...im a newbee here...just looking for advice...and take the lessons on the chin...thanks again

IF you are that low on funds just use google or yahoo and search free DAW software. I am currently reading up on all this as you don't just need Cubase but plugins as well. there are huge lists of free stuff. Not cracked actually free license. I am playing with Audacity right now with some tutorials to try to get a grasp of DAW the tutorials are also free.

If you can search out this forum you can search free license software to use and get started.

You can actually download a free trial of Cubase, not the full top version but a lesser breed that should let you open the existing Cubase tracks that you have.

These can then be exported as .wavs and then dropped into Reaper.

The debate re dongle versus online verification will rage forever. There is merit in both systems.

I like that I can have Cubase LE6 on my main PC and my laptop and any other machine I might own. If you are a one man band this is fine, you can only use one computer at a time!

Online verification is also great if the guys are nice like Reaper and Modartt (Pianoteq). Not so good if they have a pineapple up their corporate fanny like MAGIX (but I suffer them because Samplitude is so bloody good!).

Dave.
