Cubase Problem

hello im starting to use SX and im having problems with playback durning recording..it jumps out of synch and i dont know why...im recording on a laptop using the laptop soundcard.. this is how the set=up is right now:

When you say it is going out of sync, are you saying that what you record while playing back is not in sync with was originally recorded? If so, the issue is that 325 ms input latency, I would guess. I can't answer how to get around that, though, since I have the same problem with my setup. I think the real answer is to get a better interface card, but you're limited on what you can do with a laptop unless you go with a firewire or usb interface I suppose.

Good luck (and I'll keep watching to see if somebody else has a good solution for those of us who are too cheap to not try using the built-in sound cards).

thanks for ur help..i will try and look into the program and see what i can do...when i record it starts in sync ,then it will say recording track is out of sync while in the middle of recording..thats the problem i have

Unless you can get you're latency under 20ms (which is still high) you'll always have a problem. I'm running a PIII @ 750, 98SE (which is pretty much a dinasour), but my latency is 5ms, because I have a good soundcard with dedicated ASIO drivers. There's no getting around it, until you hook up a decent interface, you're stuck with the sync problems.

I agree wholeheartedly.
For a notebook, u can get the M-Audio Audiophile USB. They go for about $150 brand-new on eBay. That's the only way to get decent latency levels on a notebook (as far as I know). When recording, latency has got to be at the absolute lowest; wehereas in mixing, higher latency is preferred in order to give the inserts & plug-ins ample time to load & do their thing.
