My heart is set on buying a Tascam FW-1082 Digital recorder (motorized faders :D ) that comes with a 48 track limited cubase LE. 48 tracks is plenty for me. Is there any information i need to know about LE before i buy this thing and install it (on a new dell laptop).

No you should no have any problems, Cubase is a good stable program.. For $100 more you could upgrade to SE which has a few more options...

I second the SE recommendation but see how you get on with LE first.

Here's a cut and paste of a post I made a few days ago regarding the differences between LE and SE:

There are a few differences, the major ones being:

LE only has 2 track inserts per channel and 4 send effects (which would probably be a blessing in disguise for me), SE has 5 track and 8 send.

LE supports only 8 VSTi's whereas SE supports 16.

LE has a limit on MIDI tracks (64), SE has unlimited MIDI tracks.

There are a few other minor differences.

Le is a very nice program to start with, specially if you never used cubase before, it got the le with my emu 404 soundcard.
and it worked wonders for me
