I was glad to find an effects "rack" built into Live 6 to do mid/side (M/S) decoding. Then I was confused by how it didn't seem to work. Turns out the built in module is incomplete, since it creates the necessary M, +S and -S signal chains, but fails to filter the L and R inputs to the appropriate chains.
FYI, it's easily corrected by inserting extra "Utility" modules in each of the signal chains and using them to pass only, say, the Left signal into the Mid chain and the Right signal into the +S and -S signal chains.
