Hi

Quick question.

I have a Joe meek 3q pre-amp. Recording vocals I put my shure 57 into the xlr on that. Then I need to get the output from the joe meek into my computer.

My soundcard is a USB roland UA-100.

As far as I can see, the way to do this is to use a normal guitar lead (1/4 Jack, is that the right name ?) from the 'OUTPUT' of the Joe Meek Pre-amp into the Mic Input on the Soundcard.

1) The joe meek has 2 outputs ? which one do I use ?

2) The Roland Sound Card has 2 inputs ! Which one do I use ?

3) Have a got the general gist of how to connect the preamp to the soundcard right ? The only other way i can think of connecting them is using the (1/4) output of the joemeek and somehow getting an adaptor which plugs this into the 'Hi-fi sound system type inputs (sorry)' on the back of the roland sound card (that you cant see on the picture of the roland soundcard)

Any help greatly appreciated.

(The joe meek hasnt arrived yet, ordered it yesterday)

Cheers

Stuart

either one

either one. Specify the correct input in your recording software.

3) yup, you need 1/4"-RCA cables. Get them from RadioShack.

Stu,

At that level I would not spend much. Check Digital Village or other good store, and get a proper audio cable to patch into your soundcard. Remember, if this is the brand new threeQ Joemeek, and not an old version, e-mail me at alan@pmiaudio.com for some helpful tips. The new units work differently than the old units. So I am happy to give you some advice to get you started....

cheers !

I may well do that when it arrives ! thanks !
