connecting head to cab

k, here's the deal,I just purchased a fender mustang v, v2 amp head, I also have a crate 2x12 combo amp with the guts gone bad, I intend on using the crate combo as a 2x12 cab. can someone please tell me should I use xlr or 1/4" cables to connect the two and should I go with the plug and play jack plate on the 2x12 combo/ cab?

It's a amp-to-speaker connection....and those are normally 1/4" TS, using basic, unshielded speaker wire.

Make sure you are using the speaker output on the amp, to the cab....and not any Line out, etc....I'm not sure what all connections they give you on that amp.

I have been able to discover that the head is rated at 150watts. What I cannot find out as yet however is the impedance into which that rating is given.

It is most likely into 4 Ohms and in that case you would have little to worry about since the power into an eight Ohm load would be only some 80-90 watts and I would guess the crate drivers are each rated at 60-80W?
If however that 150W is into 8 Ohms (as in Gregs photo) then it is unlikely that the cab would be completely safe from that amp. Guitar speakers should be rated at least 50% above amplifier power.
