Does anyone out there have experience with the DBX 576 preamp/compressor.

I have narrowed my decision to the DBX576 and the Joe Meek VC1Q. Ive heard really good thing from some of you about the Joe Meek products but very little feedback regarding DBX product.

I am going to be using this preamp/compressor for vocals, guitar and bass.

I need to make a decision ASAP and I'm starting to loose my mind. If you can help with my decision it would be greatly appreciated.

I am aware that the VC1Q adds "color" to the recording and the DBX is more transparent. I am an accomplisshed guitarist but a very mediocre singer so I'm not sure if adding "color" to the vocals is a good or bad thing.

I use a AKG 414 T11 mike for all of my recordings including miking my accoustic guitar .

Thanks
Bob

You want transparency with smooth comping? I recomend U check out a RNC! While both the DBX and Joe Meek are fine comps,@$175.00, the RNC is an excellent piece of gear!

I have the 586 and 566...

These are basically the separates found in the 576. I'm happy with it, looked at the VC1Q as well. In the end, the decision was made based on the idea that the tube input section of the 5 series lets you dial in some color if you want it, or dial it out if you don't. ProRec did a review of the 576 and called it a "classic" in the making.

Its made a BIG difference in my input, much more control than I had with my Aark Direct Pro 24/96.

Schwa...do you know where on the web I could find a copy of that review. I've been looking with no success.

Thanks

found it.. Thanks. That review was excellent. I'm really having a tough time with this decision. I'll let you how I make out. Thanks for your help..greatly appreciated
