Hey guys...

Random thought: What color scheme would you go with for your studio walls and why? I'm getting ready to paint my just-converted garage, soon-to-be studio-for-business.

thanks.

I made my place kinda a bluish grey color, cuz of the calming meditative effect.

Just kidding, I had a gallon of blue and a gallon of grey, I needed 2 gallons to cover my walls, and I wanted them all to be the same color.

The first home studio I built, I painted and faux-finished in gray tones. It came out beautiful. I wanted gray mostly because I found a gray switch coverplate at home depot and thought it looked cool. It also helped with photography because I used colors close to 18% gray, which is some kind of standard or something. None the less, the room came out great.

The second studio I built, I was fortunate enough to get it painted for free because the builder messed up and had to redo the walls around the same time I was building the studio. Unfortunately, I didn't get a choice in colors, but it matches the rest of the house. some kind of off-white.

I love the traditional upmarket studio look... cream walls, wooden floor, and red/burgandy acoustic panels... oh, and don't forget the nice lighting! :D

(and the lava lamp)

when I painted my studio I actually got some painting guys in (after weeks of building I could not face the painting), I suggested colours to them and with their experiance they suggested the actual paint colour to use, it came out great. Even if you are not using painters, go down to the paint suppliers and talk colours to them, give them room sizes etc, they will suggest actual colours for you.

Cheers

Alan.

Those are pretty cool walls you've got there in the first pic on that page. Are they actual stone or acoustic diffusers?

It's a bluestone wall that was built behind a woodheater. The woodheater is no linger used, but the bluestone wall is! It makes a great acoustic diffuser.
