That is totally cool!Talk about being in full control

--The Tokai sounds great as a 335 imitation --I'm impressed
I was at my friends house and saw what I thought was a 335, leaning, strings against the wall, in his music room. I said "man, a 335!" I have always wanted one. He said it was a MIK Tokai, and he wanted to sell it. It was about 3 months old, and wanted $400. I played it, and was amazed at how it sounded. I took it home to play it through my amp, and ended up taking the amp and guitar, to the local gibson music shop. I played it for over an hour, against a brand new 335. It was just as good construction and playability wise, and smoked it, IMO, tones wise.
My main guitar(20 years), to this point, was a 1963 fender jazzmaster, that Lonnie mack used on a bunch of 60's recordings. He gave it to SRV as a thank you, when they did Lonnie's album. Stevie in turn passed it to me, when I hit austin, with only a kay type, fat hollowbody, that fed back, if you turned it much passed shouting level. THis guitar is sweet, but it has been in the case, since I got the tokai, last december.
It is great being in total control. I forced myself, and continue to learn, how to record. I spent tons of time in studios, with results that usually sounded great, but not the way I wanted it to sound. Now, all my sounds, good or bad, are on me. THis freedom is a gift.
