Chewing gum while singing??

hahah I've actually never heard of that. I might try it and let you know if I frown upon it or not!

I'd be scared that I would choke on gum if I tried singing with it in my mouth.

It's bad tone, makes a poor impression on the public, and terrible for breathing properly while singing!

What's best is chewing gum, "while you're on the John?" That way, you can really push? To get that grungy dirty sound in your voice? Works best at the end of phrases that require a lot of emotion. And the shower is right there? So if there's no TP? There's no problem. What about chewing tobacco? Why stop at gum? And why stop at the toilet? Let's take it in to mic'ing "an intimate situation..." "While you're on the toilet?" "Chewing tobacco?? (in one cheek, and gum in the other)" With clothes pins on your nipples (of course) With an ample supply of whip cream cans, just because? I mean, why stop at just chewing gum while you're doing something that's supposed to take "your full attention, concentration, and emotion?" Just let it all hang out...

I have a pretty similar issue even if I'm talking for a while and I've never heard about chewing gum. Is drinking some water from time to time a possibility?

I got a few singer friends who would recommend drinking honey or honey tea before singing.

One of them (who sings in a deathmetal band) would drink at least 300mL (just less then a can of coke) before a gig. :D

hi Geck... uhm, whats a "bogan"??

is that anything like a "redneck"?
lol

A bogan is not dissimilar to a redneck. If noting else, they both wear checked flannel shirts. And they chew gum while singing.

Gum probably lubes your throat a little for the first few minutes, but after it loses it's flavor it probably dries your throat out! It's probably best to stay away from gum while you are on stage. Of course, PLEASE chew some gum when you get off stage to avoid what I call "Singer's Breath".

Singer's Breath is something I believe occurs after singing because you are pushing air up through your system, past your throat and into your mouth, and it's collecting all that moisture and particles from inside your body thus causing bad breath. Of course, this is just my own theory, but I am always paranoid about bad breath.

Also, chew sugar free gum because the other kind is bad for your teeth in the long run.

ive never done it, it wouldnt be allowed on stage with the shows i do, but tbh ive never needed it.. as awful as it sounds the only think ill drink when i sing is peppermint and water.. mm it tastes good! but ive never needed/wanted anything else..

Yeah, and if you swallow chewing gum it gets wrapped all round your stomach and intestines and you die.
