Howdy?

What is "CD redbook audio"
For that matter what are the different types of cd burning and cd's other than "regular" and "get-an-already-formatted-digital-audio-disc-cuase-you-have-a-philips-machine"?

When all y'all are talking about editing and mixing and burning of the PC when you've used a stand alone hard disk recorder, are you referring to first track by track in wave file and then in two track for the final mix/burn?

Thanks for the help.

red book is simply the name for the specifications for audio cds that ALL major cd players will recognize. there are certain ways to store track summary info, a certain # of allowable errors, etc. i'm trying to dig up a really in-depth source of info on it to show you, because i don't know all the specifics. as far as other things about cd-r's, there are tons of types, there's NO reason (if you haven't already) to get a standalone philips and pay the "screw consumers in the name of piracy" tax. cd-r's are jsut as good as those 3-4$ "audio" cd-r's, except that the standalone players purposely don't read them. i've made a fine-sounding cd on my pc cd recorder that rocks on my denon player (though the flaws in my recordings REALLY come out :/). in any case, check out http://www.fadden.com/cdrfaq/ for more information on cd-r's (far more than i know or have time to diculge). hopefully there will be more specifics there.
