the title says it all really, just reallly starting to get to me as everyone i've asked has no idea how to do it and i've searched acid (4.0) for options how to do it but can't find it. Startin to think it probably just isn't possible but im positive ive used acid at another studio where u could hear urself thru the headphones. anyyy feedback greatly appreciated, thanks

What kind of soundcard do you have? It's probably not full duplex.

Also, how are you monitoring? What's your full set-up? I can't see it from here, you know.

i have a condenser mic running thru a tascam us-122 interface, not sure what the sound card is but as far as my knowledge goes the audio interface replaces it basically. is there anything else i should check for that could affect it?

Check to make sure it's selected in your software as the recording device.

it records fine and everything, but it just makes things a bit harder when u can't hear ur voice when recording, as most the people i have come thru to record mc it's a nuisance, get me

OK, so how are you monitoring? Headphones? Where are they connected?

i've tried putting the headphones thru my normal comp soundcard and thru the interface but neither has helped

hmmmm. I'm stuck! It may be what MadAudio said. I hope he comes back... :o

For the most part these days, "interface" = "soundcard." And I would think that your device should be able to do this. You usually monitor through the same device you're recording with, so hooking up headphones to the other card won't help.

I've been using Acid for a few years, so it's probably something obvious that I'm not thinking of.

OK, gonna boot up Acid as I type this response and see what comes to mind.

OK, go to OPTIONS -> PREFERENCES and click on the Audio tab. What do you have set for "Audio device type?" Next, what are the default playback devices set for?

And thanks for your vote of confidence, Rokket!

successs

thanks, i worked it out just from messin about i had the playback goin from my comp straight to the stereo system, i didn't think that would affect it but it did so thanks for the help people, laters

that stuff will put holes in your brain,

I really am easily amused...sorry...

You don't know how many times I've had to explain that when I say "I use Acid" that I'm not talking about LSD! Besides, it's been over 10 years since my last trip! :D
