I have a Yamaha keyboard which has been plugged into Mixcraft Acoustica (DAW) for a while and it works just fine (when i say midi I mean a USB connection to a square connector in the keyboard with two corners cut off - kinda looks like a house). It has controlled Mixcraft VSTi no problem.

I just bought a Yamaha EZ-AG midi guitar. I bought a midi-USB interface cable off eBay and plugged it all in. Nothing but silence!!! Absolutely nothing (except for the red light on the cable and my computer saying there is a new midi device connected)! I have followed the instructions. There was no drivers to install, but after I've plugged it in it downloads something for a few seconds.

Three options come up in Mixcraft under midi input recording devices,
All midi devices
Yamaha Portable G-1 (which I think is for the keyboard)
USB 2.0 midi

None make a difference. Help!!!

I am very new to this so this may not be much help but I also use a Yamaha keyboard and Mixcraft software.
1. Make sure that the MIDI channel of your guitar is transmitting on the correct channel.
2. On your mixcraft software there is a refresh MIDI option under the 'mix' pulldown menu.
3. Choose the correct recording option at the beginning of your new Mixcraft project.

Good Luck!
