I'm interested in knowing the price difference for different quality bass drum mics. Some one once told me you should expect to spend like $1,000 or something to get anything decent. That just seems like a lot. Not that I doubt that you can find them for that much and though I'm sure there worth it, for whoever's got those kind of pockets, but Is there anything out there that allows you to keep the quality and your right leg?

What are some price ranges on them? Like whats bad, whats good, and whats okay, whats the best if your serious but not a millionare? What are the things the help you figure it out. Like decible response and stuff.

Thanks

Mongoo, every single post you've made here (across all the forums) has been discussed time and again. please learn to use the search functionality of this BBS and search before posting. you'll get a WHOLE lot more usable information that way.

Sorry about all the posts. Believe it or not I have used the search engine, and more than once. :) I just thought both searching and posting questions would be a sure fire way to get those gorillas off my back.

Besides I would have to think that theres only so much to talk about here. Like you said, everything gets re-hashed. Someones got the be the culprit.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

i like my RE38 on kick. i also love the senn e602, and while i don't yet own one, one is on my "to obtain" list. kick mic choice, like everything else, entirely depends on your drums, style of music, style of playing, sound you're looking to get, room, and a number of other things. there is no "one perfect kick mic for all occasions". there's no such thing is that with anything you're looking to record.

that said, you sure you searched before posting? :p i don't see anything in this thread that hasn't been said in the last month. a search for "kick mic" turns up 2521 threads. not posts. *threads* in which the phrase "kick mic" was uttered. <https://homerecording.com/bbs/searc...d=592577&sortby=lastpost&sortorder=descending>. check it out sometime.

not that i don't believe you searched (or read any of the results) or that i'm trying to bust your chops or anything, but geez......it gets a little old seeing the same topics and the same mic recommendations over and over and over for the same things. it's not like there have been any real "revelations" or "technical breakthroughs" in kick mics lately. the same old same old always yields consistent results.

also given your "what's a rack" post and the "how do i hook these things up" posts, you might want to spend some time learning these things in the newbies area before posting newbie questions in the non-newbies areas. just a suggestion. :D

we try to help everyone here, and helping them help themselves is a BIG part of that. besides, "just asking the question again" doesn't get any of the expertise from people who have long abandoned this forum......expertise that often is not expressed by the current active membership. searching is going to be your best friend here. :p

D12 vs. ATM 25

Rather than post a new thread, has anyone compared an ATM 25 to an AKG D12 (not d112) and if so what are the results and is the price difference of $250 for the vintage mic really worth it?
