My birthday is coming up soon and I want to get new recording stuff.
I was planning on getting a Delta 44 recording system (for recording drums; one track bass, snare, toms, cymbals),
a couple of drum mics,
a pre amp (4 ins and outs)

I wonder if I can have multiple channels for Guitar Tracks Pro 3?
does any one know?
thanks.

Yes. According to this page, you can record the whole band up to 32 audio track... :)

Just to share my opinion, having Delta 44 is good, but if you do drums recording thingee, ain't it better to save a little bit more and get something with 8 input? Tell you, once you record 4 channel, you'll screaming for 8 :)

With only 4 tracks, I would do kick, snare, and stereo overheads.

thats always true with everything :)
once u get sumting......u no u want sumtin thats better
the cycle never ends

Yeh 4 tracks is enough to record drums, so the 44 is fine.

If you really want more tracks later down the track, just drop in another 44

Nope, you cannot use multiple Delta 44 at the same time :) It's one of it's cons... sorry :)

Guitar Tracks Pro was just reviewed in Computer Music magazine. It scored 8/10 and the review was quite positive, aside from the obvious part about not being able to use MIDI.

Well you could be right there James. The manual says you can install up to 4 cards, but without wordclock or s/pdif I'm not sure how they'd sync

Yes, that's pretty much what I meant. You won't have any problem running them on their own, but you'll get sync issue running them together at a same time :) Never tried myself by the way... ;)

I've had GT Pro 3 for several months now and I like it. Just remember, no midi!
