Slack-
I too have the 20/20's. Love em; but the RA-100 I bought doesn't do them justice. Listen to Bruce and get the Haffler P series - I'm saving up for one.

Elle,

Maybe it's your mixes that are "warm and rich".

A good set of monitors shouldn't color the sound at all.

"Accuracy" is the best quality to listen for in a set of monitors.

Slack: get down to KC quick and grab a pair of passive event 20/20 for 220.00 at the musicians friend clearence center. If you still want them(they may be bad ones though because I a/b them with several other sets and both soundcraft spirits and the alesis monitor ones sounded better when AJA was playing through them.) I ended up getting the alesis set.

What's the model number of that

150w Hafler power amp that's so good? (The one that's better than the Alesis RA-100....) I'm thinking about making this purchase.

Also, does anyone know whether Yorkville ever starting shipping the YSM1p?

Thanks!

Ok guys, I ordered the 20/20's. I found that the best place to get them is at 8thstreet.com. Total cost was $309, free ground shipping.

Musician's Friend had them for $299, but they wanted to charge me $22 for shipping! Sam Ash is of course out of the question if you see my thread in the guitar forum.

My only concern now is whether my amp will be able to drive them, since it can only do 58W into 4 ohms. The 20/20's are 4ohm speakers with a 150W continuous power rating.

The perfect hafler for the 20/20's appears to be the P3000 which does 200W into 4 ohms. The next step down is the P1500 which does 85W into 4 ohms.

Somehow I came up with the following site that sells hafler b stock (did someone here mention it?). P3000 for $429 and P1500 for $329. http://members.aol.com/hcmaudio/hafler.html

Im pretty sure drstawl was powering his 20/20's with a home stereo reciever at one time....dont know if he still is....doc?.....

Gidge I love you !

Will you marry me Gidge?

(knowing that I was NOT in the Skid Row ;)

...and yes, I know about how panning with headphones changes your perception and what happens when you play back your mix on external speakers. And I don't even bother using plugins like the "externalizer".
But in last few years I have found that a few of my friends who mix with the headphons on (and only!), get mixes that have great depth and are very lively. This is my small tip that you can agree with or of course, not... 8). There are so many ways to mix a song anyways.

with best regards

Sebastian

I need a new power supply for my mic stand.
