Built in Bass Traps?

In designing my control room, I had decided to make all four corners 45 degrees by adding an angled "false-wall" in each corner after initial construction. I then intended to add bass traps to these areas. A couple of questions have come up: with no 90 degree corners, will bass buildup likely not be as much of a concern in these areas, and could a "built-in" bass trap be incorporated into this design, or does a bass trap need to be cylindrical to work properly? BTW my rooms dimensions are 16 X 12, with 10 foot ceilings, floated floor (pine finished)
Thanks, great informative site!

BW - I'm not sure you need 45deg angles in the corners... You can save yourself some space by building traps into something more like 12deg corners.

Check out the construction section at:

... John's stuff there seems to be getting much nicer lately.

longsoughtfor,

Thanks, I have been to that site many times for info, and I think my answer is there in the studio plans area...it looks like that design incorporates a bass trap built into the rooms front corners. As for the 45 degree angle I chose, I think I can make this a big or small as I need coming out from the corners, depending on the length I choose for my floor plates, wall to wall. I guess if this "triangular" area is going to become my bass trap, larger would be better?

Thanks for pointing me back to some great info!

I don't know... it looks like it a bit of a face lift from when I first checked it out over the summer.

Check the equation's for the traps, depth does factor in.
