Its nice. unh I was gonna buy me a desk. I didint really think about it I might just build me one.

Great job!!! I was thinking of making one too but i wasnt sure if i would wind up spending more than it would cost to just buy a regular one. How much did all the materials cost ya and how long did it take you?

BTW...i like the lava lamp too.

3/4" x 4' x 8' sheets 2 sided maple plywood $60 x 4
box of 1 1/2" screws $10
wood glue (had some left from other projects)

keep in mind, i had a top notch wood shop avaliable to me. some tools that were essential were an air compressor, pocket screw machine, pocket screw gun, large staple gun, router, orbital sander, and clamps of various sizes...

o yeah, and the stain and finish cost me about $100. you dont have to spend this much on it though.

probably cost me a total of $450

about 22 hrs of labor, including staining and finishing.

Very nice indeed. I would love to see somemore pics of your studio. Are you all in one room or is there a live room as well?

i have a fairly large live room, an iso booth as well as a garage and foyer area used to isolate guitar cabs. i will see if i can get some more recent pics. there are small ones on my website...

Desk looks great! The whole room does in fact.
Did you build the R2R "Rack" on the left too? That design looks really practical.

:)

An elevated bridge will be a bad idea after long hours at the desk. Ideal computer screen placement should be where the top edge of the screen is at or below eye level. Anything higher puts unnecessary strain on neck and back. If anything, the monitor should be at a lower level than the main worksurface.
I'm a freak - if the middle of the screen is below eye level I either get a neck-ache or I slump and get back-ache.

could you build for a mackie 32.8 with a 24 channel expanderbut without the rack space. just enough hight for the meter bridges

That lava lamp is gonna cause some major panning issues. You're going to need to invest in another one, unless you want to mix in mono. But then you'd have to balance the lamp on top of your LCD monitor, which is a feat within itself.

btw, awesome friggin job man! I would've left it a natural color and finished it with a clear coat, but those are merely tastes.
