i wanna add a mic to my mics... the limit is 200. 225 with shipping
right now i was lookig at the

Sp C1
Behringer B2Pro
Mxl V69 tube(ebay)
AT 4033CL (ebay)
Rode Nt1A

i like the

SP C1
v67
v77
v69
v93M (mxl2003)
SP B1

but I guess it really depends what u r gonna use the mic for........

It depends. What mics do you have now ? Is there anything that those mics won't do well ? What are you tracking ?

The AT4033 is a great mic. I've owned half a dozen condensers but none compare to the AT4033. Maybe that's because it cost more than the others I bought.......hmmmm

The V69 might be worth a look. I wouldn't buy it on Ebay though, I'd try to get it new because you get a warranty with it. Anything with a tube in can be problematic.

my main vocal mic is a ADK A51TC*tube mic)
its a very clean mic. i also have a tlm193 and have access to a u87ai,SE5000, and a 414uls

i'll be tracking 75% r&b andd 25% hiphop.

It sounds like you have access to some good mics. So the question is what do think your current mic selection is deficient at?

Which one of those mics do you think looks the prettiest? I think the picture of the MXLV69ME looks pretty.

Excuse me C9 for asking Gidge,

Hey Gidge, since you have a V67, how is that gold
plated ring that raps around it in the photo. Has it tarnished?
And the mesh gold plating?

I'm questioning the build quality of MXL mics.
Some of their mics are so cheap, I can't help but doubt the worksmanship.

I don't blame you for questioning the build quality of mics from companies like Marshall Electronics, Studio Projects, and etc..... after all, they are just cheap Chinese made mics and I'm sure they don't cost much to make (I.E. I wouldn't be surprised if it cost 797 Audio less than $15 to build a Studio Projects B1 mic). With that said... I have two MXLV67G's and I've have had them for a pretty long time and I haven't had any problems with them... and the gold plating still looks great (no tarnishing).

Ive had my v67G for awhile and havent had the first problem with its performance it looks exactly the way it did the day I bought it........

knock on wood.......

You have, or have access to, some truly great LD condenser microphones. While any other mic will be 'different' I do not think that any under-200 LD condenser is going to be 'different' to the mics you already have in a way that you would actually want to use.

My suggestion would be to save up some more and then either get:

1. A really great dynamic microphone, like a sennheiser 441 or an electrovoice re-20.

2. A ribbon microphone, like a royer or a beyer 160.

Those will get you into an entirely different technology rather than being cheaper versions of the technology that you are already invested in.

Yeah, but, like, what do you want to use it for? Echo...echo...

Like, what do you want to use it for? Use it for? For?

I mean, I can recommend some dirt cheap mics that sound great for specific applications, but I could be wasting my time and the server's HD space by typing anymore than this because for all we know you're looking for drum mics and we're thinking you want a vocal mic. Mics are application specific despite being able to handle various applications.

I'd like to use the mic for Vocals.. i need a mic with a good airy sound b/c one of my sings just doesn't sound good on most of my mics.. she sounds best on the se5000

Then have her try the Shure KSM32.

I have the KSM32. I've never thought of it as an "airy" mic. It seems very neutral sounding to me. Both my NT1000 and my SP B1 have more "air".

Blessings, Terry

Yeah, I know... IMO it's a pretty flat mic... but, it seems that a lot of females like the way they sound with my KSM32. Another mic that seems to work well for chicks is the AKG C3000B... but I thought it sucked on male vocals and sold mine.
