hey im Jon, im brand new to bass and I use to play a fender Squirer Strat that i found in a trashcan and completely fixed! I am in 2 bands one i write music/manage the other i play bass. The band i play bass for is going through some desprite times and really needed a bass player. So ,i stood up to the test. . Is there anything that i should special for Bass to improve my skills? any exercises, practice tips, songs i should learn to improve my skills, anything would be great!

thanks

I say pick some of your favorite albums and look for the album's music book at your local music store. Jamming along to a pro album with tab will teach you a lot quickly. And it's a helluva lot of fun too. Instructional books on bass will also have some really good exercises, scale runs, etc., for helping you build up your bass fingers.

Depending on the music being played, walking bass lines to link key changes and chord changes are always sweet!

I recomend the " Three Ps," practice, practice and more practice. It works like this, the more you practice, the better you get; the better you get, the more you practice; the more you practice, the better you get......get the idea?
