watch out for the lightning





i was playing my beloved p-bass today


and was thinking......has any bass player tried to use one of those little glass slide thingys you stick on your finger? what would it do? would it work the same as a geetar? or would it just eat the strings????

kind of like a fretless bass...

The problem lies in the fact that you need much more "fret tension" (I'm not sure of the correct term) from the slide due to the string tension than you do on guitar.

But hey, give it a shot... Maybe 10 years from now when a teacher asks a student who he wants to play like, they'll say "Flea, Les Claypool, Bass Freak..."

so to make it work would you just push harder? or tune it up? or just slide harder?



i need to run to the nearest geetar store and get me one...and when they ask i wont tell them........ITS MY SECRET!!!

Exactly,use your firgers to play bass not a friggin' slide.P.S.,it sounds like shit,that's why bass players don't use 'em.IMHO.

Well, there you have it, I guess. I think you have to do something special to it for bass. There is this little groove thing that fits between the strings and would have to be made wider, I think. Yeah, let's hear it for learning! Go Learning!
 
Mark Sandman, form the band 'Morphine', played bass with a slide.

He only used two strings, and played through a distorted Marshall quite often.

i wanna learn stuff.....like....how to use a slide.....sure it looks easy but theres gotta be a catch
