I have an alesis studio 32 mixer which i use the direct outs to send the signal to my adats. Since i do alot of drum recording i can't really use my grp outs to route to my adat.
My question is, if i want to bounce say a vocal track on track 1 to track 2, can i just send track 1 to one of my 4 grp outputs and then patch the grp out into another channel input to record or bounce the track ? My old mixer had a switches on each channel that allowed the grp to become the source for whichever channel you chose so im a little disoriented on this mixer.

If your studio 32 is like my studio 24, it will have switches in the center right up at the top near, but between, the gain knobs. Those switches assign the two out on either side to one of the stereo groups.

So...assign your individual tracks that you want to bounce to groups 1 & 2 (for example), then select 2 open channels on your adat (say 7 & 8) and hit that switch at the top between channels 7 & 8 on your mixer.

Your group submix should now be running into channels 7 & 8 on the adat.

The 32 is probably a bit more complex than my 24, but hopefully similar enough that what I just described can help get you started.

Take care,
Chris

i wish you were right

Chris,
unfortunately the 32 lacks that routing feature. I also own a studio 24 and I like how it has the button to route the grp to the channels. The 32 for whatever reason doesn't have it. Which i wish i would have looked into more before i bought. Thanks though man

maybe i should have put this in another forum? Someone just let me know if its save to run from my grp outs to another channel input on the mixer.
