ok heres the deal ... some of you may already know

i want to use Sony Vegas 6.0 as my audio editor

but when i go to set my audio device (in Vegas) to my Lexicon omega it is not on the list of devices

when i go to my device manager these components have a yellow Exclamation poitn next to them:

the ethernet controller

Multimedia audio controller

Multimedia video controller

Universal Serial Bus (USB) controller

the lexicon hooks up through USB

the thing that is weird is the lexicon works in other programs such as Pro Tracks Plus (program that comes free with the lexicon)
and windows also recognizes it in sound devices

any ways i guess the the first step to solving this is to find out if the reason the lexicon does not appear on my list of recording devices in vegas is because of the drivers that are not installed (the ethernet controller, Multimedia audio controller, Multimedia video controller, Universal Serial Bus (USB) controller?)

i just dont understand

another thing that may help:

if i go to control panel > sounds and auio devices > click on the audio tab

i have my sound playback device set to

Lexicon Win USB 1- 2 in/out

and my sound recording device set to

Lexicon Win USB 1 - 2 in/out

IF WINDOWS RECOGNIZES IT WHY DOES VEGAS?

if you have a onboard soundcard..disable it. fix it so the lexicon is the only source of sound. aside from that, it sounds like vegas may not be equipped to handle it

yellow exclimation marks in device manager means a device or a driver for that device isn't installed properly. Either that or it is an IRQ conflict, but that's way out my depth.

Do you hae a CD rom that came with your motherboard? the USB drivers will be on that, and yeah...disable any onboard sound

well the sound card that came with the computer is integrated how do i disable it???

and i have no CDs that were probably supposed to come with the computer (i got it off of ebay)

when i scroll down for my options in audio devices they are:

Microsoft Sound Mapper
Direct Sound Surround Mapper
Windows Classic Wave Driver

Turn it off in the bios.

When your machine boots hit del, F2 or what ever it prompts you to enter setup

Find the peripherals/chipset features or similar menu, select onboard sound and disable it.

Do the same for your ethernet controller if you are not using it

Reboot. and check your device manager, the sound card stuff should be all gone. If you still have the (!) on the device click on it and it will tell you what the problem is (driver/IRQ conflict)

If your running pre sp1 XP then you will need to get drivers for your USB 2.0 from the motherboard manufacture or upgrade window to SP1

HOLY SHIT !

i think i figured it out

if i select Windows Classic Wave Driver
a bunch of options show up and i can now chose lexicon and all its inputs

but when i go to test it it doesnt recieve any signal .. im gonna try restarting my computer

hang on

thank you very much ill try it

if the lexicon supports ASIO, download the ASIO drivers from lexicon's site and install them, then Vegas will see it as a ASIO device.

D'OH! Why didn't I think of that before? That's what I have to do with my Layla cards. Sorry, Nick - brain fart.

Vegas and ASIO don't get along too well, so you're probably better off with the Classic Wave set. But that was a good suggestion by JazzMang.

I've never had a problem with vegas and ASIO before.

What problems have you seen?

Stuttering, pops in the recorded audio. It's smooth as silk the other way. Of course, different soundcards seem to work fine w/ASIO & Vegas. I've read about it here. In my case, I was just talking Layla. Sorry for not being more clear.
