Anyone read Geoff Emerick's memior? The excerpt I read talked about him doing something exactly like that for yellow submarine.

Apparently he "inserted" a mic, and put in a bucket of water (or something like that) to help get the sounds for Yellow Submarine, only to realize later that it was a condenser mic with phantom power running to it and he was lucky no one got electrocuted.
One of these days I'm going to pick up the book and actually read the whole thing.
