Hey guys, i made another thread but it didnt show up in the newbies section, i dont know why

but im purchasing the digi002

and im looking to buy a new mic

i have an mxl studio condenser, which mic do you guys suggest?

I suggest that there IS NO BEST. Thanks. Why people keep asking that question is beyond me.

for a fantastic mic around 400, try the audio technica 4050. swiss army knife.

Also see if you can find any remaining Groove Tubes mics. I really love my GT57. Also check out MAudio's new line of mics, if I'm not mistaken they are kind of a replacements for the Groove Tubes mics. Anyway it's worked really well as a room mic, vocal mic and even guitar cabs. My baby bottle sucked at just about all of those.

2nd on the AT 4050...I've got one and it's a great mic. Also been reading some good reviews about the Cad M179. No personal exp, tho.....

Yes that one. Widely available for lots less. I paid @$325 each for the two I have. E-bay can be your friend (sometimes).

Yup, I am an AT4050 fan myself. Total work horse mic. Indeed check out ebay as you can find the mics a refurbs (they were opened or broken, returned to the factory, brought to brand new condition, sold with full warranty) for about $399. They pop up from time to time, so you'll want to check over several weeks.... but when you see one, jump on it.

classified - edgar allen poe is selling a 4050 for under $400

i agree 110% but if you dont have the money then i suggets just to get the audio technica at2020. I use 2 at2020 on my cymbals through studio prjects pre amps, and i also use the 2020 for vocals until i get my new condensor mic [the NT1].

Josephson C42 is a very nice mic, or you could get a good kick mic plus an SM57 for less than $400.

yea. i agree. the beta 52a is a great kick mic, and only $200..

if your going for a drum mic set up. good idea get the cad 5 peice [$200]
2 at2020 condensor mics [$100 each]

and your set. and the at2020 also can be used for recording vocals [veyr well might i add] so its a 2 in 1.

but if you want a good mic for under $400, the rode NT1 a is AMAZING! the best vocal mic out there for the money.

and i agree wiht the sm57's. that mic can be used in so many ways including... mciing an amp, micing drum head, micing as an overhang, even if needed vocals.
