Behringer UCA222 noisy output

I just purchased the above USB card and the RCA output has a constant high-pitch dirty tone (hiss), audible even at low volume. However, the headphones are perfectly silent.
I'm using Windows 8. Whenever I uninstall the Behringer driver, the noise stops completely, and when I install it again, the noise reappears. I guess this excludes other causes for the noise. Any ideas on how to solve this?

My completely unhelpful advice is to buy a better gadget. $30 doesn't buy quality...

If it's not working as you expect, after correct installation, take it back.

^^He does make a good point here. There is a reason why good stuff costs more. Your issue is likely more to do with the level of quality, of your purchase.
 
I have used a UCA202 (very similar product) and it is dead silent, the noise if a digital earth loop between the UCA and something else in the setup. If this is a laptop try running on battery with the power supply disconnected to see if the noise goes away. Let me know what the actual UCA is plugged into? Powered monitors, mixer, whatever.

Thanks Alan. The card is plugged into a USB port on the motherboard (no hub) of a desktop PC. The RCA input is empty and the output goes to the Yamaha HS50M powered near-field monitors. Nothing else.

I have one of those & occasionally use with my ols laptop when I'm just sketching & away from the recording comp.
It's not great but it's fairly quiet under XP.
Take it back.
 
I have read a thread (here I think) where those Yammie monitors can be noisy.
 
The monitors attached to the same pc but a different card are quite silent.

I wish I could take this card back but can't. And it's not really a matter of money... I have the feeling it's something fixable.
 
I have the same problem with mu behringer 222, and i have another set of active monitors ( alesis M1 Active 520), so i presume its not the monitors that cause problems. Ive played around with asio4all, and discovered, when you turn off input in asio4all, digital noise disappears. Maybe its a driver problem or problem with internal interference with card itself... or something else...
 
I can't try right now... do you mean that if you turn off Asio4All's input, the noise disappears completely and the output goes silent as it should? Crossing fingers!

My guess is that the hiss is being caused by a digital earth loop between the 222 and the yamaha monitors. You could try putting one of these in between.

Its not ground loop problem, its driver related issue, something with input output latency and PC architecture component and usb latency... Ive tried to change usb ports, and on some ports noise is weaker and on other noise is louder... And for me its not classic noise or hum its digital hi pitched buzzing.

Sorry, it is a ground loop problem, the noise is caused by a ground loop via the usb cable, the voltage differential in the usb cable causes the high pitched wine that you hear, not the usual hub that a common ground loop in audio cables would cause. The noise would go away if you were using a lap top on battery or a PC with no earth pin on the mains cable Which Is Illegal.

I know all about this problem as I have come across it many times and solved it many times.

I tried to isolate the ground loop by disconnecting ground wire from the cable of computer power supply, and nothing changes. Ive even tried with Ferrite bead, same story. UCA222 works without any kind of noise without behringer drivers... but, when you turn on recording input in asio4all noise starts. Nothing is connected to the input of the audio interface.
 
I have a UCA202. When I turn up the volume of my amplifier, it goes BEEP BEEP BEEP. No real problem with casual music listening, but unbearable when mixing because I have to turn up my amp. (levels around -20dB)

Never looked for a solution, just got a better interface. It was driving me crazy.

I don't really care about using the Behringer drivers, but how can I use the card without them? I just need silent playback, no input.

Behringer Drivers? I have never used any special Behringer drivers, just plug it in and it works with the windows standard audio drivers.
