Can I connect this unit by USB to my PC?.....I'm replacing my Lexicon mixer which is USB friendly but too awkward of a unit to use. The Behringer has been dropped into my arms "brand new" in a box.....haven't taken possesion yet and I'm wondering how do I get to my PC. I just want to go in via USB.

No, those units are strictly analog. You have to use audio outputs such as the sub or main outs.

yup those outputs into inputs of a recording interface (or a soundcard).

Does the quality diminish much if you use the tape outputs (I'm sorry I don't know if this is the correct term, I am speaking of the red and white outputs) to go into a soundcard? I had a cable that goes from those two inputs to an 1/8" and I was thinking I could go into my soundcard's mic input. I'm still without a soundcard and for basic recording would this diminish quality.

And to justify not jacking this thread ... it could be a suggestion to the initial poster :p

No those little recording outlets are put there exspecially for recording the best pssible signal and by rights only use these outlets.....Next don't input into the soundcard via the mic in because it has a amount of power there to drive a microphone....Always use the line in jack that is provided in the soundcard........thegoodegg@dodo.com.au

Yeah use the line-in, but the RCA jacks (The red and white ones) are not the best jacks generally, as they are not balanced connections (Whereas the UB features Balanced 1/4" and XLR outs). But in your particular case where your having to reduce to 1/8" stereo connection these will do just fine. But if and when you upgrade your soundcard, look into something with balanced inputs and outputs.

P.S. Those RCA jacks are most commonly used for tape in/out for making quick 2 track mixs of a live performance, or playing prerecorded material inbetween sets. They are often used as a second control room out too.

How many tracks would you want interfaced with your computer?

i use a ub1204fx pro to mix, and the tape outputs work well it also depends on your recording sample, 44100 Hz 16 bit is default. But if your sound card can support it with out latency, I recommend 96000 Hz 24 bit/32 bit float. But you might already know that not to insult ur intelligence.

UB1204 says bye bye

Thanks for the help....and I'll apply my education to my somewhat revised project....took the UB back and picked up the Yamaha MG 10/2.
Didn't need the UB's FX features and the for the money the Yamaha wins. Still need advice on an interface...
hey I currently have the Omega Lexicon hooked up. It's a challenge, awkward but it's a (mixer interface) with a lot of bad press mainly because it's so alien to most people. But hell - outside of it's layout, it's cool. But I'm thinking I can use it as my interface and work primarily off my Yamaha as if it was a sub mixer. Is that outlawed? Too much? redundant?
Or should I just yank it out...if so - suggest an interface for me.
I'll be recording one track at a time. One Mic and drum machine/sampler! That's all for now!
