Behringer B5 mic

and Alan went on to say that he knew the mics cost much less.

I don't know why they can't just sell them to us at cost. There are plenty of programs like meals-on-wheels, medicaid, AFDC, WIC and Salvation Army soup kitchens they can use to bring up families and live on. And if worse came to worst, there's always the van down by the river.

ADK (AudioDeutschKraft)..........that's another story.

Another company that tried using a name with Teutonic origins as a blind for where there mics were coming from, thank goodness they seem to have dropped that strategy. What Larry Vilella (sp) said in an email regarding that name was almost ludicrous, but he has seemingly made sufficient $ from the early marketing deceptions to be getting on with trying to make decent mics.

I'm trying to remember what all Alan said in that thread... but, it was something like (but not word for word) I know the mic only cost you (Larry) X and your selling it for XX, so your either not telling the truth or something or another... I can't remember, oh well. Does anyone know what user name Larry from ADK used? If so, maybe I can find the thread... that would be much better than me trying to quote it.

I edited some spelling and added the following below.

It's seems 797 Audio is not trustworthy and they don't play fair with their customers.

I'm thinking of buying a Behringer B5 just to open up and take pictures of it... but, I'll most likely need help opening it up... who here can talk me through this? And I'd still like to see pictures of inside the SP C4... how about it Alan?

To be fair, if you were going to do that, you should also get hold of any other comparable SD mic that comes from China and open them up too.

Yeah, I know it's not really practical, but it would be interesting.:)

I think it would be interesting also. :)

Can you think of any other SDC mics that look like the B5 and C4 that are made by 797 Audio? If so, maybe you can get one to open up and take pictures of it too?

Hey DJL,
You can ship it directly to me and I will take care of it, including drawing the schematics :).
Seriously, the B5 is on my watching list. At $75 it looks like a great bargain, considering it comes with two capsules.

DJ,

There are other similar mics out there, but whether they are from 797 or not, who would know.

As an example, here is a pic of an SM Pro Audio mic which retails out here for $170Aust........too much money to pay out if 1; it sound like shite and 2; for me to pay just to pull it apart.

That mic doesn't look anything like the B5 or C4.

If I could work out a way into mine without ruining the bugger I would take some pics like I did with the B1 & B2

FWIIW the outside and capsule construction seems fine.

Anyone around the Cannock Area in the U.K. can come and listen to the thing most weeks when I work with local Rock/Blues bands.

With the 2 capsules I think the thing is a steal even at the prices in th U.K.

I'd like to know if it's the same mic as well. I use a pair of C4's for drum overheads and like that application for them. They aren't mine though...so when they are returned to their rightful owner some day and if the Behringers are the same...I would just buy those.

I have a feeling that the Behringers are similar but maybe have some different electronics, but that's just my feeling and I could be wrong. Has anyone outright asked PMI if they are the same?

I reviewed the C4's at Mojopie.com

Actually, you would lose that bet! :D

Brent should answer this one, but it is ot the same mic. Same factory which pissed us off a bit, but not the same mic. According to the people at Behringer and the inside details from 797, it is a different capsule and thickness, and different electronics. Brent keeps updating the C4's along the way.

It was nice for Behringer to honor us by taking our model numbers and look....
I'd like to see the insides of both the B5 and C4... I think it would be interesting to see just how much different they really are from each other.

That's what I get for skimming, thanks. I'd be interested in hearing the Behringers still, or buying one and comparing the two.

Anyone wanna send me one? ;)

War :D

Well now, maybe we can use this one more time to bury the hatchet. I have asked you this three times since Stephen has passed.

Last time, how about letting it go and no more attacks on either side... So you know, I am not looking to Spam anything, so you don't need to think that.

You're Call!
I think that's a great idea... and now that your one of us regular guys here just trying to help everyone... how about helping us all out and post some pictures of inside the C4. Thanks

DJL - You might want to put a link to the thread that this quote actually appears in, since it's completely unrelated to this discussion. In fact, you seem to be implying that you and Alan have buried the hatchet. Has that actually happened?

Freshmatt..............Alan's hatchet comment was directed at Chessrock.

DJ...............considering you have commented 4 or 5 times in this thread that YOU would like to know or see the inside of the B5 and/or C4 I think the message has probably got through by now. Whether anyone has the inclination to oblige is another matter.

Yup. I made what I thought was a rather witty retort in that same thread. I didn't want people to think that was directed at DJ, and gave him a chance to out himself.

Oh well, maybe he's busy in a session.

Cheers
