behringer b1??????

i did a search to check out some reviews but the b1 is a wild card. i have an at4055 and i'm looking for a diferent flavor, something with pleasant color or warmth, mainly just something to compliment the at4055. is this mic favored amongst recorders for VoCaLs?

Personally I'd buy a Studio Projects over a Behringer. But that's just me.

I must be losing it. My mind is completely blank when it comes to a 4055. Can you describe it? (I know the 4050, 4060, 4033, 4040... is it like any of those?)

Agreed. However, the Studio Projects B1 is not what I would call a warm, colored mic. It's more of a neutral mic IMO, clean and pretty accurate.

I bought the behringer b1 and let me tell you, save your money. i was really new to recording and the guy at the local mom and pop store didnt know anything about mic's and he ended up selling me that piece of crap. It's not that its such a horrible mic, you can get alright sounds out of it, its just that for the money you spend you could be getting better mics. I wouldnt spend over 30$ for that mic. If you dont have an sm-57 i would recomend getting that for a little less money, if you dont already have one.
If you need further convincing just do a search on it here. I have seen few good reviews by people who have used it here.

i won't be getting the b1. i apologize for saying i have a 4055, it's a 4050. i had an sm58 but i sold it on ebay, i was told that a dynamic mic wouldn't suit me as good as the condencers will for vocal recording. the condencer does pick up more sound.

You want a microphone that would complement the at 4050 mainly for vocals, right. For that I would get a LD condenser. Because the quality varies a lot form individual to individual especially for low cost LD condensers the best way to get a good one would be to go to a store and try a few out yourself.
Shure SM 57/58 are very different microphones from the at4050. Shure SM 57 is meant for INSTRUMENTS. It's not a vocal microphone, though you can use it to get kind of a lofi vibe to them. The 58 is for vocals but as it is a dynamic microphone it's no way near as sensitive as a LD condenser.
