Not too impressed with their little boss knock off stomp boxes yet.

The casing is all plastic, and to change the 9V is pretty difficult on the fly... you've got to use a couple of pens or screwdrivers to squeeze some pins together.

Didn't sound all that hot either.

Having said that, I was surprised after re-reading "Behind the Glass" for a second time, that one of the producer's interviewed (can't remember his name, but he was a big deal) uses a Behringer compressor, and loves it.

This is a guy who has access to LA2A's, 1176's, etc. - and he says in this interview that he owns, and really like the Behringer Composer.

I realize this thread has been going on since the Ice Age, but I'll throw my 2 cents in on Behringer gear. In the past, I had kinda stuck my nose in the air about Behringer products, not really having a lot of experience with their gear, but not necessarily caring for their business practices.

In a pinch a few years ago, I picked up a MDX2200 Composer Pro compressor. To be honest, it's not half-bad. For the price, the features are great, and the sound is pretty transparent - excellent, if that's what you're going for. Some user reviews complain that they're noisy, but I haven't found that to be the case at all. I wonder if they're using the device properly. Anyway, I liked the one I had so much, I recently picked up another, used. $25, shipped. Works fine. (Behringer discontinued the model, and I figure why take a chance on a new model I'm unfamiliar with?)

I also have a small Behringer mixer that works well for routing signals to headphones. I realize this is a small sample size, but I've never had any problems with the few pieces of Behringer gear I have. That's more than I can say for other pieces I own (Tascam, M-Audio, Aphex). I'm not saying those brands are bad, I'm just saying a lot of equipment quality issues are just plain bad luck.

Behringer, it was said by someone is the "McDonalds burger" of gear. I think that sums it up. Many people have eaten McDonald burgers even professional audio people may like a McDonald Double Cheese.

MCDonaldinger serves a purpose, it works fine for many things, it satisfies the low end of cost, someone has to be the cheapest.....but it is what it is.

my brother has a Behringer mixer has a bunch of inputs for the price of a Big Mac.

Matter of fact there's a broken behringer amp in my garage a friend of my sons left there. I was going to try to repair the broken knob, the loose nut jack, the stripped plastic screws and whatever else today. Probably will sell it.

I know I'm bored when I start posting repeat quotes on threads I don't give a shit about.

oh fhk not another Behinrger post....

Well I opened up the GMX210 guitar amp.The thing is what it is, pretty sparse inside. The main fix was the input. It was found to be loose and the metal nut was stripped on the plastic threads. (pos).

Used some gorrilla snot and added a washer to move the nut from the stripped thread area.
another loose plug...nothing major. All connectors reaffirmed to be tight.

The amp plays, but randomly it powers up not working, crackling and the tuner doesn;'t work.

But a power down and power up seems to reset the thing, maybe a few power resets are required.

I found a few good tones, always fun. With everything at 10 on the EQ, the amp-sim switches to Tweed / Clean/ US...and the effect set to Compressor #90 and FX set to 55-65%....it began to sound pretty nice.

But then the crackling and compressor would do strange shit?

I also noticed going from A to B channels there would sometimes be a loud "POP" noise...its was like DAMN!!!?

So again, leaving it in manual on one setting, maybe a few reboots, and some gorrila snot and a better guiitar jack...its probably worth $50 used.

It has 2qty Jensen Made In Italy JCH 10"/35W "Special Design" speakers stock. think I'll go read up on that, its a mellow damn weekend.. not complaining.

its been a few weeks.
this amp is still working ok, even though the owner never came to get and bought a B52 half stack for $600..(thats left here in my house too, btw.)

the GMX210 is alright at low volumes, falls apart on high volumes unless you like muffled, flub sounds.

At low volumes its great, at $50-80 its great...free is excellent.
If anyone finds one at a dumpster check out the input jacks and you may have a working combo amp for the bedroom or HR studio where you don't have to have huge volumes.

Slipknot debuted at #1 BILLBOARD with their new CD....screamo man, can you dig it.
All Hope Is Gone...

I don't think they use Behringer GMX210 amps, but they're Lead singer uses a Shure SM58 for $99, or so I read.

Go SLIPKNOT....Got a # 1 and they're not a country or a rap band...there's still Hope.

Well i think that Behringer has really good deals, what i also think is that its much better now than before, im not particullary fond of their products but i think that if you are willing to gamble a short amount of money you could end up with a very nice piece of gear, or just some bad equipment that doesnt work. BTW there are a lot of places that make mods to behri gear and they sound pretty cool. Also, i was intrigued when one time they asked Al Schmitt which compressor would he recommend and he said "I really like the Behringer"....

Every site has a Behringer thread like this and in every case it keeps getting resurrected. The mixer I have is pretty good for what it is. It was so cheap that I could have bought two of them in case one broke down and still would have paid less than the nearest competition. It has been reliable, but it does not have the options or the compression of the more expensive units.

I'm under no illusions. If it breaks, I'll throw it away and buy a new one instead of spending $200 to have it fixed. I'm not spending $3000 or more for a so-called "quality" unit unless I'm getting an income from music to pay for it. Illusions and dreams are a big part of this industry and dreamers will pay a high price to chase them, nobody knows this more than manufacturers who overcharge for their equipment, and there are lots of them.

Very well put...

I was given a Behringer Eurodesk 48/24 8 bus recently...and I still haven't brought it home. I'm not sure what to do with it yet..!!

I have no place to sit the thing, other than on it's side up against a wall... I guess a studio mixer-desk project to set this monster on is in order.

I'll let ya know how it works out...if someone comes along that can help me figure it all out. I wish there were some musicians close by who do home recording.

I only have two Behringer products: an Autocom (Compressor/Limiter/Gate/Expander) and a keyboard amp. Both work great. I can get the Autocom to do whatever I want; it's a great tool but not superior. They keyboard amp...well, I only had $200 at the time and it was on sale, so I bought it. Works great. I don't take it anywhere because I don't trust its durability.

I probably won't buy any more of their stuff.

I'm a big fan of Behringer. As someone who wants it all yet has no money... Behringer lets me get my hands on all the bits and pieces I need, to do what I want to do! I now have the ability to record and mix my own songs, and all for under $1000 Australian which is a fantastic deal (including a PC). If Behringer didnt exist I would be stuck paying through the nose for studio time. Long live Behringer!

I've been home recording, rather learning the recording processes, for several years. Frankly, if it wasn't for Behringer gear, I probably would not have gone down this path. I started out with a small Behringer UB mixer. Now, I have a larger Behringer mixer, Xenxy 1222FX. I also have the MDX-1600 Compressor/Gate, REV 2496 V-Verb and the EX3200 Enhancer. All work perfectly, do exaactly what they claim to do and help me accomplish my music. The 1222FX is very quiet. And with all the hardware, I use a Furman power condition to clean up my environmental electrical noise. It's my house, not the equipment that causes noise leaks.

I've never had any problems with my Behringer equipment at all. I've had questions about the equipment and the Behringer Support site has always been helpful and responsive to my questions. It may take a couple of days to get an answer but they've always sent me good information and suggestions. And, I do keep a Behringer wish list on hand.

I use several condenser mics as well as dynamics; MXL, AT's, Nady and EV's. I use good cables, including Mogami, a M-Audio 2496 Sound Card, a number of effects pedals, a Boss DR5 Drummer and a Line6 Pod2. My DAW is substanial, 3.4Ghz, 3Gig ram and over 500 gig of space on various hard drives. I use Audacity exclusively as my transport. My guitars include Gretsch, Rickenbacker, Guild and Fender both acoustic and electric.

In the greater scheme of things, Behringer probably sells many times the amount of equipment than similarly priced products and more so than upper end hardware. I would attribute the seemingly higher number of complaints about Behringer simply because they outsell everyone. I doubt the failure ratio of Behringer products is out of line or higher than any other company.
