Very unique... I like the accompaniments and the layers. The chimes wer cool on the guit. Some of those fruity kicks have that clik in them, almost don`t hear it.. The whammy was just right at the end..

lynx - you might be right about the verse, and I'll keep it in mind. You know, I've had this one sitting on the computer for a year and a half or more, and just got around last week to noticing that it needed something on the outro, which is when I added the guitars and posted it here, thinking iit was done.
skids - cheers - I've changed the drums, yeah. As for strings - yeah, nicer samples are always nicer LOL. I wanted to see what I could do with the sounds that came with Fruity Loops.

participant - yeah, it was supposed to have a disturbing flavor to it, but I was also aiming at 'otherworldly' and 'sad compassion' as well. Have you ever seen that European painting called "The Fall of Icarus" or something similar? It's a beautiful painting of an everyday scene in Europe a few hundred years ago - a guy's plowing a field, and there's a ship out on the ocean - but then your attention's caught by this little splash in the water, and you see it's a guy with wings - Icarus. I like doing songs sometimes that have two things going on, like that painting, for a bit of contrast of the everyday and the tragic. In this one, there's the bees, all full of life and flowers and buzz (I needed the odd harmony to get out of the world of people and into the world of bees). And then there's the people described in the song.
Toki - thanks - you've heard a lot of stuff, so it's nice to hear 'unique' from you. I bought an electric guitar this year. It's fun watching the different sounds that come out of it.

(it's really weird...just received a couple of new Andy Partridge demo cd's and I was playing them, then your song, back to Partridge again and back to your songs....sounds almost the same....it's almost frightening.....in other words: you could make a lot of money/reproductive organs by selling your stuff as AP demo's. Pedullist - I remixed the whole thing from the ground up, but I haven't uploaded it yet - that's why it sounds the same. It *is* the same. ROFL.
Now, this so-called Andy Partridge you speak of - is he older than me? I would guess not. Probably he's copying me, yes?
I haven't heard his stuff, but if we sound that much the same, I don't want to hear him. LOL You know, I was in a CD shop six months ago, and heard a song playing that was *exactly* like a direction I want to move in with my music. So I went to the desk and they showed me what was playing and I went to the stacks and got a copy and was heading toward the cashier and then STOPPED! It would influence me too much. I put it back on the shelves. So you can keep your Mr Andy Partidge. LOL

Ok, the string entrances are nice, but my soundfonts are better.
Nice envelopes in the strings, or just good slow-samples.
Vocal comes in nice and strong, my compliments there.
Your vocals are at the most proper mixing level of almost any of the tunes this week.

I see this and "Rain" as being in the same direction to a big degree.
That vocal section is so damn nice. My first thought was that it reminded me of Brian Wilson during the Smile period. Yet you also have that slow adding layers thing at the top, which is kind of like techno without the incessant 808 kick. So its an interesting mix--seems like an original style and direction, which is my highest compliment. When I hear your music, I get the impression of a person who stopped listening to outside music maybe 30 years ago and just sat in his place and created his own vision. Thats a big part of what makes it so cool.

Downloaded last night. Listening at work with headphones.
Wow man…I think I’m a bit out of my element here musically. This was really trippy. I liked it. The vocal strikes me a little up front maybe? Very original for sure. The BG vocals are cool – maybe a little bit of pitch problems on them, but not major. Although, with the intentional dissonance there, it’s hard to tell. Can’t add a lot more than that.

Dobro, please know that I don't want you to work on your english pronunciation. It sounds fine to me. It didn't even occur to me yet you could be a non-native speaker...noticed you're from Singapore just one week ago (guess when )
In general: there's nothing wrong with an accent. Chris Harris and Crawdad sing with an accent too. It's different from SLuiCe's and TripleM's. It's all english. There is no perfect way to speak english (well...grammatically there is, of course....but there's nothing wrong in that department in your lyrics). Why bother trying to learn something which is basically another kind of accent?
Sorry for trying to start up a debate (again) and spoiling your thread.
But I'm curious what the others think....

pedullist, sviols - it isn't my pronunciation, it's my enunciation. Studiov is right - making the words clearly heard and understood is an issue with me. It's an art singing words so that it's both interesting and understandable. Anyway, that's one reason I put printed lyrics in with my CDs.
anyway, in the meantime:

they are looking good and it is all around
but it is lost on them they do not know how
meanwhile the bees plunder discretely

I like this because its unique. I also hear Andy Partridge, which I mean as a huge compliment. The vocals were not quite as precise as this song demanded them to be I think. But I think nailing them would be a real challenge and I'm sure I couldn't do it. Great ending. I like this because it sounds like the work of an artist - someone with a singular vision expressing himself.

First of all let me say that I hate bees.
I've got several hundred $'s damage to my bike, a bruised hip, and a sore shoulder from one of those little bastards.
Your tune is cool though. I like the contrast of sounds. That opening sound reminds me of the old 8bit video game sounds (remember Atari?) The "mellotronish" string pad against the "plastic koto". The "in your face" vocal.
Cool stuff, and really sets the mood.
The chorus gets a tad boomy on the bottom, but not terrible.
The comp on the guitar is just a bit severe I think. Would like to hear it breath some more. Ah, the guitar at the end is just right! Diggin' that "non-stock" not choice.

Have you thought about putting a slow leslie effect on the chorus and just a bit of reverb on the lead voice. The chorus is more of an instrument in this piece instead of voices. The lead could use a little more space to it.
Everybody else pretty much covered it.

The only thing that bugs me still is the attack on the guitars at 3:00. A little over-compressed sounding to me.
The chorus still gets a bit thick on my JBL's, but they tend to kinda thick in the mid-bass anyway. Sounds great on my new cans (Senn HD 280 Pro). Still getting used to 'em.

Hey, thanks for listening again. Okay, maybe I'll start in on the dreaded lower-mid cuts on the bg vocals. I tried a technique I used on another chorus-heavy song here recently (it worked on that one), but maybe it wasn't so successful here.
