I have been reading up on building some bass traps/acoustic panels for my new space. Lots of info out there so I just wanted to ask if any one has done this and if so what he results were. Has anyone used unfaced R25 insulation (rolls/batts) to build acoustic panels/bass traps. I have read a couple of diy pages where it was done, mainly to cut costs. Seems that they just compressed the hell out of it and were pretty much trying to get the density of rockwool or fiberglass panels. I've looked at prices for panels and the rolls, and the rolls are quite a bit cheaper. has anyone tried it? I haven't done the math yet so I am not exactly certain what the savings would be, but if doing it this way would work as well, and cut the cost enough, I be willing to expose myself to the itch, anything to save a few bucks. Please let me know.
