There are much cheaper ways to obtain STC66 than is described there & you probably do not need Green Glue. - using clips on the concrete walls will give you a high STC and very good LF STL with a couple layers of 5/8" type 'X' gypsum board due to the MAM frequency of the gypsum wall & the concrete wall.

Ok, that is good to know. Do you know of some similar diagrams that would show how to do this ?

Please note I will only have conrete walls on two sides.

Thanks again

Ok, by no means is this an expert talking but I feel compelled to say I think you're over thinking this.

I live in a freakin' semi and I get away with acoustic drums in my studio. I built my 13x18 room in the upper level of the basement and used 3 of the concrete walls as exterior walls to save some soundproofing efforts. For the 4th wall (the only wall that really needed soundproofing), we did steel stud frames with Roxul Safe n Sound, double drywall on one side and single on the other. We used an exterior style door with a good tight seal, and caulked the shit out of everything we could to make it air tight. I also just chose to drywall over the ventilation ducts. There are two windows and a nice little space heater in there and I've had zero problems there. I read and read and read about isolation clips and green glue and heavy lead and vinyl sheeting and then finally decided to risk it and you know what? It didn't require THAT much above and beyond normal construction techniques to build a room that was surprisingly isolated. When you close the heavy exterior door into the studio, cross a short hallway and go up the stairs and close the other door there, my brothers punk rock band is plenty quiet to watch tv and relax. Maybe not quiet enough to be practicing during sleeping hours, but I was pleasantly surprised with the effectiveness of my techniques. BTW we did the entire basement (13x18 control/live room and a 9x5 booth with window) for about 4 or 5 grand.

My point is, to me, considering you've already got all that concrete between you and the outside world, just do a double stud wall between the studio and kids area and double up on the 5/8" drywall and be sure to SEAL EVERYTHING.

Unless you insist on going all out, that is!

Just my two cents.

Good luck!

Adam
