That looks like a pretty cool start to a site :)
I dig the dancing dog ;P (just kidding... I know its a monkey)

Thanks... its really just an experiment as I'm learning flash. Very slowly.

BTW, instead of buying macromedia's huge, expensive program, a $50 shareware thing called "swish" is pretty cool.

Yep... Swish is what I use :)

My studio web site is down right now... but it was all flash (swish)

swish is cool. its limited, but its "good enough".

Who needs a 40MB download anyway :)

Its not like I can draw anyway lol

frederic,

Would it be possible to get you to do a drawing of my studio plan? And maybe one of your "all in a row" idea?

Sure, be more than happy to.

Just need accurate measurements and I can whip up a drawing in no time.

I jsut scrolled back, and you placed "approximate" measurements. Want me to use that?

yeah... those "approx" measurements are within millimeters of being accurate.

I don't have accurate measurements for how big each room can be... that it still open for debate. The console is a mackie 24x8 with two 22 inch sidecars.

Thanks,
Velvet Elvis

Within millimeters? that not exactly approximate :D No problem, I'll use them. Give me like, 30 minutes or so.

quick and dirty

This is just an illustration of what I was thinking initially....

And yes, I lobotomized your GIF :D

One major problem would be that to go in and out of the studio requires walking through two iso booths (instead of just the one).

(no problem rearranging my bmp... please feel free)

John Sayers... ideas??

John...

If you are following this, can you give me what YOU would do with the space? I'd really like to get all the input I can.

So?

Are you counting the airlock as a booth? heh-heh

Let me know what you think of this. Obviously, with drag and drop, it can all be shuffled around.

The mackie console is 29x39ish, and I decided the two racks are 22" wide a piece, and 24" deep.

Enough room for akai hard disk recorders :)

frederic...

Yeah, I was thinking the airlock would be a great vocal booth... small, etc.

Can I (pretty please with sugar on it) get you to mock it up moving the two rooms to the other side too?

I like your rounded back wall idea.

And yes... the side cars are about that size... they are actually the ones the match the mackie boards (Mackie Sidecar).

Looks cool... thanks for helping me out!

btw - is F.A.R.C. a name brand we should start manufacturing for rack enclosures?!? :)

You mean, draw it like you had it originally?

I like your rounded back wall idea.

Easy to do, too.

Sheet rock will curve easily if you cut the front of it vertically in 1" or 1/2" increments, most of the way through, but not all the way. Then put the solid side (uncut) against the wooden form, and bend slowly. Then spackle and fill.

If you make the form off the wall, say, in the driveway, you can wet sheetrock and slowly bend it over the form that way. I've done that, though its much harder than slicing, spackling and painting.

Plywood, if the arc isn't too much, you can use a circular saw set to cut most of the way through on the side FACING THE FORM. Circular saws make a nice 1/8" cut so you can compress that by bending the plywood.

Or use slats, deck screws, and pack with your chosen insulation.

Yes... a nicer version of my original drawing (with the measurements for the board and stuff that you used in the other)... I just freehanded mine... your's look much more impressive ;P

I like the idea of the slats on the rounded wall.... that would basically turn it into a giant bass trap yes?

The shell I took from your measurements, and the console table and sofa I did measurements, but the rest of it was drag and drop freeform :D

Yep! Though bass tends to "hang out" in the corners more than the middle of the room. This is more of John's expertise, I'm in the same boat with you. Partial Clue :)

Ok... what about this....

Take your idea with the sideways control room and put the control room in the upper left corner... instead of the lower right corner (that would make it so that all the pipes/hvac/tub and shower etc were all avoided in the control room).

Can give that a shot?

Thanks again!! I LOVE seeing the ideas in a more professional form.
