Saturday night I went to my little brothers guitar recital. Meh. The skills ranged from the very beginners (aka my brother) to the quite good. The last student to play sat down, turned his guitar upwards (so as to hold it like a cello or bass) and put both hands on the fret board. Now, I'm not usually a fan of "fret board acrobatics" but this kid was sick. He couldn't have been more than 18 and he played an invention by Bach. For those of you who don't know; an invention is a two voiced musical piece. It's not a duet, where the two voices are singing/playing in harmony. It's two different lines moving against each other. This kid nailed it. I was very impressed. I wish I had a video or recording of it, but I don't. Anyway. It was cool. Have any of you seen/heard things like this? Just thought I'd share.

I worked on some of the fugues from the well-tempered clavier for a while, but I really wasn't that good. Four voices is lots of fun! Although you have to make some major compromises to play those pieces on guitar.

I thought the OP was talking about performing 2 seperate songs using each hand...Ive seen that done on 2 occasions...one of which is a client.

actually, yeah, it was a lot like that. I was pretty impressed.

I can't remember his name right off but there is another not famous guy who does a lot of jazz standards in a similar method. He has long dark hair and makes a lot of ridiculous faces, typically uses a playing card to mute his strings. Maybe it will come back to me.
