Does anybody use tha avalon 737sp what the best settings for vocals

The one that sound the best within the context. Really, that's it a nutshell. There is not right or wrong, just what sounds best for what you're doing.

That being said, set the gain to a level that shows about 0dBVU. Then, if your signal requires more high-end, less low-end, more mid-range, whatever, adjust the EQ to give you the sound you are after.

Then, if you're signal is too dynamic, compress it. I don't think you should need more than a 4:1 compression ratio, with a few dB's of gain reduction.
