I have a M-Audio Audiophile 2496 card.

2 analog ins
2 analog outs
s/pdif in
s/pdif out
midi in
mini out

I have the digital s/pdif out of my J-Station connected to the s/pdif in on my audiophile with a digital coaxial cable (75 ohms or something). When I try to record I get nothing...I looked in the cards control panel under the s/pdif tab and under "Digital Input", it says "S/PDIF Signal: Invalid or Not Present". Why is this?

I am using SONAR, but that shouldn't matter much; I can't even get the card to recognize a signal.
Also, the analog ins work fine.

Thanks,
Scott

Under the patchbay tab make sure HW Out/SPDIF is set to Wave Out SPDIF and then under the hardware tab make sure that the clock is set to SPDIF In.

The clocks from both devices, your card and your J-station have to be running at the same sample rate 44.1 or 48. Check the Hardware settings tab for the sample rate. One of these two usually synchs it up.

Good Luck.

A new problem has come to my attention...

To record from my S/PDIF in i have to go to the audiophile control panel and switch the clock setting to S/PDIF In.

The thing is...when the clock is set like this...i have to have my J-Station (which is hooked to the S/PDIF in) on to be able to monitor through the audiophile's analog outs.

It's not a big deal...I can switch on the J-Station when doing any tracking, mixing, or anything where I would need to monitor using the audiophile.

My question is...is there anyway to avoid this problem?

Thanks,
Scott

When you arent using the J-Station, set the clock back to "Internal Xtal" and you wont have to leave the J-Station on......
